Resorts World Hudson Valley Joins Town of Newburgh to Celebrate Completion of Recreation Center at Chadwick Lake Park

Resorts World Hudson Valley officials joined Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio and community leaders for the unveiling of the new Chadwick Lake Park recreation center – a long-awaited amenity for Orange County made possible partially through funds paid under the facility’s Host Community Benefits Agreement. Completion of the recreation center comes on the eve of RWHV’s third anniversary.

“Resorts World Hudson Valley opened its doors with a promise to have an impact throughout Newburgh and Orange County,” said Meghan Taylor, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Relations at Resorts World. “This new facility at Chadwick Lake Park will benefit generations to come, which brings us so much joy as a team that both works and lives in this community. We were honored to support our partners to finally deliver this recreation center for our neighbors.”

“The Town of Newburgh worked diligently with our partners in state and federal government as well as Resorts World Hudson Valley to deliver this recreation center today,” said Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio. “We believed it was finally time to build this rec center and are proud to say today that when spring rolls around, it will certainly deliver for Newburgh residents.

The newly opened recreation center includes two full-sized basketball courts, a turf soccer field and pickleball courts, the perimeter of which is surrounded by a walking track. The facility also features an exercise room, a children’s room, and a multi-purpose room, along with new office space for the Town of Newburgh Recreation Department.

Orange County residents have waited nearly 35 years for the recreation center, after it was first proposed in 1991. The project was stalled for decades, however, due to a lack of adequate funding to get it off the ground. The Town of Newburgh made construction of the $13 million recreation center possible through a series of grants from Sen. Charles Schumer, Rep. Pat Ryan, and State Sen. James Skoufis, as well as funds from RWHV’s Host Community Benefit Agreement. RWHV, which is located just three miles from the new recreation center, made this pledge to Newburgh as part of its opening in Orange County, which reflects its community dedication throughout the state. In addition to investing in special projects like the Chadwick Lake Park Recreation Center, funds from the agreement also support the town’s emergency response departments. They were joined by leaders from local labor and Holt Construction – the same firm that executed the $50 million re-imagination of part of the Newburgh Mall into RWHV, which opened three years ago this month.
